During fire season, certain outdoor activities can pose a high risk of starting wildfires. To help prevent human-caused fires, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has implemented restrictions on public and work-related activities.

We encourage all residents and visitors to stay informed and act responsibly.

Important Notes:

  • Our agency does not enforce air-quality complaints related to smoke. However, fire crews will respond if:
    ๐Ÿ”ฅ A fire is hostile or threatens to become hostile
    ๐Ÿš— Smoke obscures public roadways
    ๐Ÿš‘ Smoke results in a medical emergency requiring patient care or transport

Are the use of INDOOR fireplaces restricted? No. ODF Fire restrictions do not apply to indoor fireplaces or woodstoves inside your home. [For USFS Cabins indoor fireplaces are restricted]
Are Burn Barrels restricted? Yes. Burn barrels are considered backyard debris burning and are prohibited during fire season.
What is a recreational fire DESIGNATED site? A Designated Site is a location that has been inspected and approved by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and has been issued a permit for recreational fire use.
How can I get a PERMIT for my recreational fire? The land owner will need to contact the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) at ๐Ÿ“ž (503) 829-2216 to learn about their inspection and permit process.
Is mowing GREEN grass restricted? No. Mowing green, well-irrigated grass is not restricted.
