Cost Recovery

🚒 Cost Recovery Policy – ORS 478.310

Under Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 478.310, Hoodland Fire District #74 is authorized to seek reimbursement for costs reasonably incurred while providing firefighting or public safety services when an incident occurs on a transportation route 🚗 or in other unprotected areas 🌲not subject to Fire District taxes or assessments.

This may include:

🔥 Motor vehicle accidents
🔥 Structure or wildland fires
✈️ Aircraft crashes
🚨 Other emergency incidents

The Hoodland Fire District #74 Board of Directors has adopted a policy and ordinance to recover costs for emergency response and associated expenses.

Important Exemption:

Taxpayers within the Hoodland Fire District 🏡 are exempt from these cost recovery charges.

Per this policy, the Fire Chief is authorized to seek reimbursement from the:

➡️ Person(s) receiving services
➡️ Property owner
➡️ Responsible party

When an incident occurs:
📍 Outside of a fire district (unprotected property)
📍 On a transportation route where no taxes or assessments are levied by the district

This policy helps ensure that district taxpayers are not burdened with the cost of services provided outside of the district’s tax base. 💰
